IT Residence is a weekend house set in the city of Bogor, a resort city about 50 km south of the capital Jakarta. andramatin was commissioned to design the project for the client who required to spend most of their days in the ever-densifying Jakarta. Serving mainly as one-storey weekend house, the client intended to use it to revel in the atmosphere of Bogor, which also known as the ‘rain city’ due to its frequent rain showers.

The house is a single volume shaped by the intersection of three rectangular blocks set at different angles. The plan shows an axial rotation of three different rectangles which are centered in the house’s vestibule and extended toward the site’s perimeter, orchestrating a clover-like structure. The house is organized in asymmetrical asterisk-like zoning, whereas each zone provided with a certain level of seclusion and individual view on their ends.

Following the horizontal arrangement, the house is also articulated through its verticality. Among them are the building’s 1.2 m rising above the street level as well as the additional 1 m elevation on the master bedroom’s level to allow space and shading for the semi-outdoor terrace underneath.

Setbacks from the given site are applied to allow accessibility around the volume and to regulate air flows thoroughly. Generous area for courtyards resulted as negative spaces carved out of the main volume’s figure. Within the courtyards, are gentle slopings that cut the greeneries and guide the circulation from and toward the house. Apart from the spatial approach, the facade is dominated with board-formed concrete, a process of in-situ concrete casting that leaves wood grains on the casted surface, creating a monolith expression throughout the building exterior.
