Consultants appointed to develope masterplan for Jurong Lake District

    A team led by KCAP Architects & Planners (KCAP) have been appointed as consultant by The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) to develop the detailed master plan for Jurong Lake District. The appointed consultant team comprises of KCAP Architects & Planners, SAA Architects, Arup, S333 and Lekker.  URA launched the Request for Proposal (RFP) exercise in July 2016 to invite multi-disciplinary teams to develop master plan proposals. Out of 35 interested teams, 5 were shortlisted to proceed to Stage 2 of the RFP.

    In December 2016, shortlisted teams submitted their conceptual master plan proposals. The proposals were assessed in 4 broad areas, mainly in master plan and urban design, district-level infrastructure and underground space optimisation, environmental sustainability, and innovativeness. Consisting of senior representatives and practitioners from government agencies, academia, and industry made up the Evaluation Panel behind this assessment.

    KCAP Architects & Planners (KCAP) were appointed based on the highest score among 5 teams shortlisted for Stage 2 of the Jurong Lake District RFP exercise. KCAP’s Sensitive focus on water and greenery were prominent as it incorporates new waterways and a series of green spaces and connections that weave through the entire district to create a strong, distinctive identity.

    Over the next few months, the selected consultants will collaborate with URA and relevant agencies to refine the master plan and draw up detailed proposals for the Jurong Lake District. These proposals will be exhibited in mid-2017. Following the exhibition period, URA will work with the appointed consultant to review and incorporate the feedback given on the detailed proposals where appropriate, before finalising the master plan for Jurong Lake District.
